Damn yo, sometimes I get so goddam frustrated wit my fellow boricuas, and my fellow minorites in general. We love to complain about all the injustices and prejudices towards us. I got pulled over bcuz I'm a minority. I was looked at suspiciously in a store bcuz I'm a minority. Now, I'm not sayin this shit doesn't happen or that ppl don't have a right to be mad when it happens. But then these same ppl will drive a stolen car, or rob a grocery store. And then the cop who pulled them over and the owner of the store can say, "Damn, I KNEW those blacks/puerto ricans/teenagers/etc. were nothing but trouble." And then what is that doin? Makin an ignorant sterotype even stronger, continuin the vicious circle.
Yesterday some kids at school brought in some knives or whatever and started like 4 fights. It disappointed me when the kids were talkin bout who was involved, and it was blacks, Puerto Ricans, and Haitians. Mainly anywayz. And it just kinda pissed me off cuz I'm thinkin, this foolishness is gonna ruin it for all of us minorities who already have bad reps. I mean, we should be tryna change these stereotypes, even if it's by doin somethin simple like not poppin some white dude in the face for lookin at u funny.
I guess my bottom line is u don't need to be complanin about stereotypes if all ur doin is provin them right.
¡Adrienne!
I didn't know my sister visted here, cool. (I'm Heathers little sister), I agree about the shit about Minorities, maybe if we fought harder to fight oppression this kids wouldn't feel like they had to carry weapons. Stereotypes are hard to break, as a sex worker activist, I know, you'd be shocked at how many people are surprised taht I don't smoke crack! Fuck Stereotypes!
We can only pray that minorities start killing eachother off in record numbers.
